Croutons

While croutons clearly aren’t enough of a recipe to merit being on the main recipe page, I still think they should have their own post – not just a section in another recipe. So here is my extremely simple guide to making the best croutons you’ll eat!

CroutonsIngredients (makes a bowl of croutons)

  • 1/2 baguette
  • salt
  • pepper
  • olive oil

Preparation (20 minutes)

Preheat the oven to 200 °C. Cut the baguette into slices and then into little cubes. This might be easier to do if you either partially freeze the baguette beforehand or you let it get a bit stale. Once you have all the cubes, lay them out on a baking tray and add plenty of salt, pepper, and drizzle them with olive oil. Move them around a bit on the baking tray so the olive oil is all soaked up and all of them have at least some oil on them, then put them on a high shelf in the oven. Let them bake for about 5-10 minutes or until golden brown, then remove and enjoy!
